Elder Chris Crouse – The Doctrine of Election
Peter begins his first epistle by addressing the elect, chosen according to God’s foreknowledge. Elder Chris emphasizes that our eternal salvation rests in God’s hands, not our own, as we inevitably fall short. He compares us to a lump of clay in the potter’s hands, shaped according to God’s sovereign will—some for honor and some for dishonor. Before time began, God chose us to be with Him when time ends. This doctrine of election should inspire us to live in a way that honors the One who has chosen us. When someone is discouraged, the most uplifting thing we can do is remind them that they belong to the Lord.
