Elder Philip turns to 2 Corinthians and focuses on verse 6: “Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:” He explains that to be at home in the body is to be at rest. He cautions us not to become comfortable in the body and this old world. He gives several examples of God’s children in this state. Samson’s hair was a covenant with the Lord and he took it for granted. Just as Samson had a covenant, we have many tokens as well, such as the church. Elder Philip encourages us to leave these things of the world and to put our focus on the Lord.
