David knew what it was like to be a shepherd, to care and love his sheep. He went after a lion and a bear, freely willing to risk his life for just one of his father’s sheep. Elder Mark points out that we need a shepherd and explains that Christ is the great shepherd, who laid down his life for us. He considers shepherds that were not good, the qualities of a good shepherd, and the various characteristics of sheep.
