Elder Tim Montgomery – This Ministry
Elder Tim preaches on the ministry that the Apostle Paul wrote of in 2 Corinthians 4:1 “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;” He explains the gospel ministry and the ministry that is contained in our walk and example in each of our own lives. But the Apostle Paul talks about a ministry that gives us no valid reason to be down or discouraged, the ministration of life in Christ Jesus. It is founded on the finished work of Jesus Christ and a God that cannot lie. And regardless of all the trials and tribulations that may exist, Elder Tim proclaims that we have no reason to faint.
I do not typically take liberty to include personal reflection in a sermon summary, however, I feel impressed to share with you some of my own thoughts. In this sermon, Elder Tim mentioned how when Moses was in the mount, God allowed him to see His hinder parts, or the afterglow of His glory since that sin cannot exist in the presence of God. And he felt that he has seen just a glimpse of that afterglow this weekend during the Florida Fellowship Meeting. I have certainly felt the same and I’m sure others have as well. For just a moment, time stood still and it was of no relevance… we were truly in the presence of God. As I was driving home this night, I was in somewhat of a daze. I saw the cars, the road, the lights, the earth as crude matter, all bound by time. I was at peace, not caught up in the daily rhythm or cares of the world, but lifted a bit higher through pondering on the things of God. This frail body can only sustain it for just a moment, but how thankful I am that Elder Tim was blessed to preach it, that I was blessed to receive it, and that God was there. What a glorious rest there is in this ministry.
